Bootleggers Cove gets modern condos

Bootleggers Landing offers “euro-modern” living in Anchorage

If you’ve driven through Bootlegger’s cove in the past few months you’re sure to have noticed the new, modern condo construction project taking shape over last summer. The new townhouse-style condominiums on 8th Avenue between O Pl and P St are nearly completed and seeking buyers.

There are 8 units in the development and 4 of them are marked as reserved or pending. Their website states that typical units are 1380 SF and start at (just under) $500K. The Scandanavian inspired 3-story units feature a small deck, one-car garage, and views of Knik Arm. The website states you’ll be able to see pods of Beluga’s swim past, as long as a train isn’t blocking your view. There are very few actual waterfront properties in Anchorage because of the Alaska Railroad and the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail (thankfully) to which this property has excellent access.

While Anchorage still needs more affordable, high-density housing near the CBD, I certainly don’t expect it to find it in Bootleggers Cove. I do however appreciate the fact that this project significantly increases density in the area from the very small single-family home that previously occupied this large lot. The architecture is unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing especially when contrasted by the adjacent condominiums at 726 O Pl.
