Uncle Leroy’s 2nd location bringing coffee culture to the Eastside.
A coffee desert is finally getting a much-needed coffee shop and cool meeting spot.
A section of Anchorage served only by a couple of roadside coffee huts and a supermarket Starbucks is getting a long-overdue coffee shop and not just any coffee shop, Uncle Leroy’s.
According to Uncle Leroy’s co-owner, Austin Schwartz, the trendy coffee bar will be similar to the popular midtown location and will feature a long counter with stools, rotational art installations, and a mural by a local artist. Located in the Russian Jack Plaza at Debarr and Edward Street, the new Uncle Leroy’s will be a walkable neighborhood coffee joint.
The original midtown location, in case you haven’t been, is an inclusive venue and roastery that features coffee cupping events, mocktail tastings, breakfasts hosted by A Crepe Crew, first Friday art exhibitions, and even the occasional drag show.
The new location is expected to open in January 2020.
